About

We have lived in England since 1 April 1994 (no fooling!), residing for the first 21 years in Shirley, Solihull on the southeastern side of Birmingham. Along with colleagues we started Dickens Heath Village Church before moving on to initiate and experiment with a simple form of church we called thethirdplace while still in Shirley.

In 2015 we moved into Summerfield / Winson Green in the inner city to begin some new projects with a new local team focused on discipleship, missional communities and church planting, and missional training. We refer to our local team with another couple as Companions for Hope. We work together to ‘cultivate abundant community from the ground up by being neighbours on purpose’ and initiate a missional community. In Birmingham we are leading the formation of a missional training hub for Forge England and Wales to coach leaders in missional principles and practices to make new and more disciples. We also helped start EQUIP Britain, a ten-month cross-cultural immersive experience which trains individuals, couples, and families to make disciples and plant churches in an urban setting anywhere in the world.

Prior to our life in England we enjoyed spans of time in Virginia, Tennessee, Arizona, and Oregon. Tim grew up in Minnesota, and still loves watching and playing ice hockey, and has just started experiencing the learning curve of being a referee. Tammy has Oregon in her blood from birth, and enjoys counted cross-stitch and watching a good movie with Tim to relax and wind down. Tim completed a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2011 with Fuller Seminary.

Before the year ends we will celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary. We’re empty nesters with Andrew and Jess living in CA, grateful for the ease of using facetime and skype to converse regularly.
